about
“Elephant Girl” is a story of transformation and the spiritual awakening of a female person with a disability. The title of the song is in reference to Elephant Man, a true story of a person who was judged and maltreated exclusively because of his appearance. It is essential to remember that not all disabilities are visible to the eye but that does not mean they are not a reality.
lyrics
Elephant Girl (official lyrics)
Verse 1:
Little girl what are you fighting for
Little girl what are you looking for
Little girl where do you fit in
Little girl where do you belong
Prechorus:
One more one more one more game to play
One more one more one more blame to prove
One more one more one more thing to say
One more one more one more…
Chorus:
Cuz I’m big girl now
Don’t tell me who to be
Cuz I’m big girl now
Don’t tell me what to say
I’m sick of all the rules, sick of all the tools, sick of all the games, so don’t tell me what to do. I’m sick of all the rules, sick of all the games, sick of all the tools, so don’t tell me what to say. I’m sick of all the rules, sick of all the games, sick of all the tools, so don’t tell me what to do
Verse 2:
You’re not a communal body for a sacrifice
Ya take cover in that secret life
Those smiles and ties of what you think you are
Won’t fool no one, not even yourself
Prechorus:
One more one more one more game to play
One more one more one more blame to prove
One more one more one more thing to say
One more one more one more…
Chorus:
Cuz I’m a big girl now
I’m just trying to find my place
Yeah I’m a big girl now
I’m just starting to lose my trace
I’m sick of all the rules, sick of all the games, sick of all the tools, so don’t tell me what to do. I’m sick of all the rules, sick of all the games, sick of all the tools, so don’t tell me what to say. Don’t tell me what to do! And, don’t tell me what to say!
